Wimberley AP-500 Replacement Lens Foot

The Wimberley AP-500 is a custom low-profile replacement feet that replace the factory foot on the rotation collar of your lens. These feet also serve as the Arca-Swiss style quick-release plate eliminating the bulk and complexity of an additional plate. A Wimberley lens foot also improves lens handling on a conventional tripod head, such as a ball head, and also makes it easier to pack.

The replacement feet are precision machined to slide right into an Arca-Swiss style quick-release clamp. They also have tapped holes for mounting to non-quick-release tripod heads and monopods. All replacement feet feature the same safety stops and flash bracket compatibility as our lens plates. Wimberley Replacement Lens Feet lower the lens profile compared with the manufacturer's original lens foot.

Lens feet are often a weak link in a lens support system. We use finite element analysis validated by empirical data when we design our feet. This process allows us to reduce weight while maintaining an appropriate level of stiffness. Other manufacturers often reduce weight by removing too much material. This may so drastically reduce the stiffness of the foot that it becomes a weak link (undermining the stiffness of the entire setup).
