Frequently Asked Questions
- Which photographer/filmmaker most inspires you, and why?
-
One of my biggest inspirations is a Swedish director, Roy Anderson. He has a unique, painterly visual aesthetic that creates a surreal and sombre mood, which I really like. I also really appreciate his social and political commentary and satire; this is the general thematics of him filmic work.
- What is your most memorable shooting experience?
-
One of my most notable moments was working with a cat on set; I almost never work with animals. The cat looked very much like the model it was photographed with. Watching and creating visual connections between the model and the cat was fascinating for me.
- What one piece of advice would you offer to people starting out in your industry?
-
Ask yourself these questions first: Who am I? What do I stand for? What unique experiences make me who I am? An artist who doesn't understand themselves can not succeed in communicating their art and ideas to a larger audience. You absolutely need to love what you do, and then people who make hiring decisions will see that energy in your work.
- What is the best shooting tip you've ever received?
