Optical Performance

Meeting the demands of professional users, this lens has been equipped with a highly intricate and advanced optical structure. The lens is made up of 12 glass elements that have been arranged into 10 groups. Within these 12 lenses, there are GM (Glass Moulded Aspherical) lens elements that have been precisely located along the barrel to ensure high resolution and edge-to-edge sharpness throughout the focal range. As well as this, Tamron has included one XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) and two LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements that when combined, significantly reduces the appearance of optical aberrations for the highest image quality possible. Finally, to suppress ghosting and flare, Tamron has used a BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) Coating that is effective even in backlit conditions.
