Expanded Sony FE 24mm f2.8 G Lens Key Features:
Advanced Optics
The complex and advanced lens structure of the Sony FE 24mm f2.8 G is what enables the capture of such detail- and clarity-rich images and videos. The lens is comprised of 8 glass elements arranged into 7 different groups. This includes the use of three aspherical elements and one Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) lens element. Together, this combination of lenses deliveries impressively high-resolution images with edge-to-edge sharpness. Colour fringing and aberrations are significantly suppressed and working with the F2.8, 7-blade circular aperture, the lens will produce beautifully circular bokeh.
Fast, Precise and Near-Silent
To complement the stunning image quality that the Sony FE 24mm f2.8 G Lens can capture, Sony has equipped this lens with two linear autofocus motors. This powerful AF system provides fast, accurate and near-silent focusing for both stills and video work. Additionally, this system provides impressively accurate tracking capabilities, making full use of Sony's advanced performance of their mirrorless camera bodies. Together with the likes of Sony A7 III Digital Camera Body, precision subject tracking is ensured even with instantaneous movements from your subject or between scenes.
Sony Build Quality
Maintaining the high-quality construction that is seen across all of Sony's lens ranges, the Sony FE 24mm f2.8 comes as part of the G lens range. It features a high-quality, aluminium exterior which provides a stylish and sophisticated aesthetic whilst contributing to the strength and durability of the lens. Adding to the overall premium feel of the lens, Sony has engraved the iris ring indices, focal length markings, and Sony logo onto the hood.

FAQs:
What is this lens best used for?
The lens has a wide 24mm field of view which makes it ideal for many different applications e.g. landscape, street, architecture and astrophotography. The advance dual linear autofocus motors and overall lightweight and compact frame makes this lens as suitable for stills as it is for video capture. Finally, the bright maximum f2.8 aperture lends itself to low-light shooting.
What is the difference between the Sony G lens range and the Sony G-Master range?
The Sony G lenses (or Gold line) were Sony's first premium range of lenses specific to Sony Alpha cameras - white ‘G' on a black square. They prioritise high-quality materials, increased sharpness, smooth bokeh, and a fast, constant aperture. The more recent GM (Gold Master) lenses can then be physically differentiated by the white ‘G' on an orange square. By expanding their G lens line, Sony are putting more emphasis on accessibility and variation - supplying pro-level lenses to freelance photographers/videographers, mid-level image-makers, and hobbyists alike.
