• There aren’t any other native Sony E lenses for APS-C with this focal range, so we can only compare what is available. Out of what there is, this lens is lighter, more compact and offers a brighter max. aperture of f1.8 so performs well in in low light.
• To save on weight, Sony hasn’t included optical image stabilisation. Depending on your use, this could be somewhat of an issue - but the fact that it’s such a wide angle of view, you may get away with it if you have a steady hand! Plus, if you use it on a newer model, then Sony’s in-body digital stabilisation should sort you out.
