Aperture & Glass
This lens that sits perfectly as a middle-ground between standard primes and classic portrait lenses, has an advanced and intelligent interior deign that is both optimised for mirrorless camera systems and to produce the highest image quality possible. To begin with, Sigma needed to ensure the highest optical performance throughout the entire aperture range, even at F2. The SLD glass element helps to reduce axial chromatic abberations that cannot be dealt with in-camera. This results in a capture signficiantly more detailed images. The two glass-molded aspherical lenses have been used to correct spherical and comatic aberration, as well as astigmatism. These elements and advanced processing technology are what allows this lens to have such an impressive optical performance.
Convience & Professionalism
The lens design exudes class and style. It's decivingly small and lightweight for an all-metal construction but it's this design that gives it a premium feel. Then there are functional features that add to the lens performance and offers convenience to the user. This includes an aperture ring that allows you to change your aperture on the lens. There are other factors in play such as a special sound-deadening grease that's been used to give the ring a precise and smooth action, and to add to the premium feel, along with a regular plastic lens cap, Sigma has included a metal cap that attaches to the front of your lens magnetically.
