The Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art joins the highly regarded Sigma Art series of lenses as a favourite amongst photographers. We have found it is particularly popular for wedding, portraiture and gig photographers due to the focal range and wide maximum aperture. The F1.4 aperture is not only perfect for lower light conditions that you might find at weddings or gigs, but you have the ability to really play with your depth of field to create unique and interesting images.
The wide maximum F1.4 aperture means this lens works amazingly will in lowlight conditions like photographing gigs or capturing those unforgettable moments at a wedding reception. But it can also create the most attractive shallow depth of field and blue to your images. This is a quality that a lot of photographers strive to achieve, and with this lens, it's easy.
This lens feature Sigma's HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) technology. This system ensures quiet and fast autofocus yet, you also have full-time manual focus override accessed by simply rotating the focus ring. Sigma's enhanced autofocus system, you're able to get a much smoother autofocus experience.
This lens has be designed with usability at its core. Sigma have considers all aspects and have improved the autofocus/manual focus changeover switch as well incorporating a more intuitive lens cap system. Sigma have used metallic components in conjunction with TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) to create a completely solid lens.
Sigma have used super multi-layer coatings that reduce flare and ghosting. They provide sharp and high contrast images even in backlit and harsh lighting conditions. The whole idea is make every Art Series lens resistant to strong incident light such as backlight to help you capture the best possible image.
