Made for The Outdoors
The Ricoh WG-80 is a heavy-duty digital camera designed to withstand the elements come rain or shine. Whether you’re needing a camera for diving, climbing or hiking, the Ricoh WG-80 is the ideal solution. To help this camera combat even the harshest weather conditions, Ricoh has included water-proofing, shock-proofing, freeze-proofing and shatter-proofing. The WG-80 can be submerged to a depth of 14m for up to 2 hours, dropped from heights as high as 1.6m, exposed to temperatures as low as -10 degrees and endure up to 100kg of pressure all without a hitch. This is one of the most impressive outdoor cameras on the market that can accompany you on any kind of trip without fear of damage.
Working outdoors can also mean dealing with unwanted glare. With horizontally extended 16:9 proportions and approximately 230000 dots for detailed playback, the 2.7-inch LCD monitor provides promising navigation and viewing. The monitor also has an Anti-Reflective (AR) coating that allows for easy viewing even in bright daylight. And, for particularly bright environments, the Outdoor View Setting Mode is there to keep you from squinting.
High-Resolution Image and Video Quality
With a 16 MP back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, the Ricoh WG-80 delivers impressively high sensitivity with exceedingly low noise for crisp and clear images. The WG-80 has a sensitivity of ISO 6400 and also effectively utilises all 16MP to ensure high-resolution results. The high-end action cam specs don’t stop there. The WG-80 is also capable of recording full HD videos at 30fps and can even record in 1920 x 1080 px at 16:9 proportions. You can capture movement with the High-Speed camera function that allows for slow-motion playback at 1280 x 720 px and use the built-in Micro-HDMI terminal (type-D) for simultaneous output of Full HD movie clips and sound.
Macro Function With LED Lights
Equipped with 6 LED Macro Lights optimally positioned around the lens barrel, the Ricoh WG-80 is also capable of impressive macro photography images. When the Digital Microscope mode is selected, users can adjust the intensity of the lighting by 5 steps to illuminate the subject with bright, uniform light. This 6 light unit offers almost twice the illumination of its predecessor to make close-range photography feel effortless. With improved lighting also comes improved features. The Ricoh WG-80 can use the 6 LEDs to minimise the appearance of shake, assist users in selfie mode to ensure they’re in the frame, and be used in-low lighting conditions to provide better results.
Creative Shooting Modes
The WG-80 features 25 scene modes and 6 image tone modes to expand the user’s creative options during an outdoor shoot. These shooting modes are ideal for a whole variety of different scenarios, including settings for pets, fireworks, sports, night and macro photography. Using Auto Picture Mode, the camera conveniently identifies each subject type and automatically chooses the most appropriate settings for you.
One of the most beneficial features for divers is the Underwater Shooting mode. When used, colours are optimised and features sharpened for like life, vibrant images. Overpowering blue tones are a thing of the past, with red tones enhanced and contrast deepened to compensate for the scattering of light underwater. The Smart Flash function also ensures your subjects aren’t startled - pictures are taken in succession with the flash off and then on, so you can be sure to get the perfect shot without fish fleeing.
The WG-80 also boasts automatic facial recognition that identifies up to 32 faces in just 0.03 seconds - so it’s even easier to get group shots or selfies, all you have to do is smile. And, if you’re into social media sharing, the WG-80 benefits from 12 different filters, so you can upload instantly without the added hassle of editing.
Includes an Optical Zoom Lens
The high-performance 5x optical zoom lens provides a 5mm to 25mm focal length (equivalent to approx. 28mm to 140mm in 35mm format). With this wide-angle coverage, the WG-80 provides as much clarity and detail in sweeping landscapes as it does macro shots. If users are looking to expand their reach, the 5x optical zoom can even be extended to 7.5x zoom at a resolution of 7.5MP. Alternatively, the Intelligent Zoom function can extend the zoom range to approximately 36 times (equivalent to 1008mm in 35mm format), or the Interval Shooting mode can be used for superior telephoto photography. This is a fully flexible camera, designed to accommodate every kind of shooting scenario.
Triple Anti-Shake Protection
The Ricoh WG-80 is a camera designed to keep pace with the height of the action. With Triple Anti-Shake protection, fast-paced environments no longer need to result in blurry, unusable images. The Pixel Track SR uses advanced shake-reduction technology to effectively compensates for camera shake by digitally processing affected images. The Digital SR mode also intuitively detects when photos are taken in low-light conditions and automatically raises the sensitivity up to as high as ISO 6400 with a much faster shutter speed. Video also benefits from the same features with a Movie SR mode that effectively compensates for any misalignment, so you can benefit from beautiful, blur-free action clips.
