FAQs:
What is TTL Flash?
TTL is often considered an ‘automatic’ mode of flash and stands for “through the lens”. Similar to the way your camera’s light meter works for aperture priority or shutter priority, TTL flash is another method of calculating the ideal amount of flash needed for your scene/subject. This involves using information from your camera’s “through the lens” metering.
How does TTL Flash work?
TTL flash works by pressing the shutter button halfway down and triggering a preflash. The preflash hits your subject and reflects back to your camera through the lens (TTL). This allows the camera to determine how much light is needed to expose your subject correctly. Based on this information, the camera will then adjust the power of the flash accordingly.
What models are compatible with the Profoto Connect Pro?
For branded versions of the Profoto Connect Pro, a comprehensive list of compatible models can be found on the Profoto website. For the Non-TTL version, any camera with an ISO hot shoe mount is compatible.
How is the Profoto Connect Pro powered?
The Profoto Connect Pro requires 3 x AAA (Lithium, Alkaline or NiMH) batteries. This provides an improved battery life of up to 50 hours of use. Rechargeable batteries can also be used to ensure this accessory remains inexpensive to run.
How lightweight is this accessory?
Whilst the Profoto Connect Pro benefits from a large display, this accessory's overall size and weight remain compact and light. It measures only 90mm in length and weighs 90g without the batteries. With batteries, the weight is increased to approximately 125g, meaning it can still be easily transported from set to set.
Does this use the Profoto Control app?
Group controls on the Connect Pro are mirrored in the Profoto Control app. You can choose to receive all information on your iPad, iPhone or Android device.
