Expanded Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 Digital Camera Body Key Features:
Stunning High-Quality Images
Stunning High-Quality Images
Users can enjoy gorgeous high-quality images that replicate real life details. This is achieved through fantastic resolution, image rendering, as well as colour reproduction. The pixel count has also been successfully expanded by 25% thanks to the Digital LIVE MOS Sensor. It has greatly improved from its predecessor GH4, including the imaging sensor being increased from 16.05 to 20.3-megapixel. Additionally, the low-pass filter has been removed.
Venus Engine Image Processor
The newly incorporated Venus Engine image processor offers fantastic improvements especially in the Natural Texture Expression department. Thanks to the Multi-pixel Luminance Generation rendering clear and sharp images users can enjoy even more elevated imagery. Precise detail reproduction is achieved through the rendering process referring to a 9x larger area of pixel information when in the de-mosaic process. The Intelligent Detail Processing analyses the characteristic of every single pixel in order to sense whether the pixel is located at a flat, detail or edge part of the picture. According to said characteristic optimum processing is applied to each pixel. The resulting images feature a natural appearance that is of high-precision and beautiful detail. False colours are supressed at the edges of the image for an even more accurate replication.
Three Dimensional Colour Control
Hue, saturation, and brightness are effectively detected by the Three Dimensional Colour Control so that it can apply optimum control that takes the value of each factor into consideration. This results in rich colour reproduction that stays consistently accurate throughout the entire image, right from the dark to the bright areas. Additionally, High Precision Multi Process Noise Reduction has replaced the conventional Multi Process NR. The updated version offers 4x the noise identification accuracy than the previous engine and it is also capable of preserving the details even after the noise reduction process has been completed. Thanks to this, images are clearly shot even at high sensitivity ISO values of up to 25600.
Dual Image Stabilisation
The 5-axis Dual Image Stabiliser 2 utilises far more powerful and advanced techniques to conquer blurring. This is true for both photos and 4K videos. By uniting 2-axis Optical Image Stabiliser with the 5-axis Body Image Stabiliser, larger movements, that were previously conventionally uncontrollable, are now compensated for. The GH5’s high-precision gyro sensor is capable of controlling both the O.I.S. and B.I.S. compensation. This is achieved through learning about the shooting conditions, and focal length which in turn allows for the use of a max 5-stop slower shutter speed. This advances the performance of wide-angle and telephoto lenses and facilitates one hand shooting in addition to supporting night-time capture.
High-sensitivity MOS Sensor
The rolling shutter distortion has been successfully supressed thanks to the high-sensitivity MOS Sensor working in conjunction with the Venus Engine. They also aid the release high-speed readout of full digital signals. This means that every single frame features terrific high image quality in addition to the focal length in video capture being kept the same as that in the photography shooting mode without cropping.
Stunning 4K Video Capture
Users benefit from gorgeous 4K Video capture thanks to newly developed features that meet the standards of industry professionals. One of these features is the improved signal readout speed that has been hastened by max 1.7x in the Digital LIVE MOS Sensor. Additionally, the Venus Engine can process signals at max 1.3x higher speed. Thanks to all of this the resulting video is captured in 4K 60p/50p ultra high-definition. For the first time in a compact camera system such smooth video capture is possible.
Multiple Formats and Frame Rates
There are plenty of formats and frame rates to pick from depending on the situation and project. These include MOV, MP4, AVCHD Progressive as well as AVCHD formats at diverse frame rates. For added convenience there is no recording time limit for both FHD and 4K video. Professional camera operators who work all over the world have the freedom to set the system frequency to either 59.94Hz (23.98Hz), 50.00Hz or 24.00Hz.
Cinelike D and Cinelike V
In addition to the ‘Cinelike D’ and ‘Cinelike V’ (that possess similar gamma settings for film) available for use in Photo Style for video capture, the GH5 offers ‘Like 709’ for compatibility with HDTV. Users also benefit from a paid software upgrade that supports V-Log L video capture.
Waveform monitor and Vector Scope
The Waveform Monitor and Vector scope have been added to the GH5 due to professional user feedback. SMPTE-compliant Time Code is also embedded in Rec Run or Free Run count-up methods. This allows for easy synchronisation of multiple video footage or sound sources within the post production workflow. Users can also select Luminance Levels between 64-1023/64-940/0-1023 (10-bit). Finally, the Synchro Scan mode minimises flicker and Colour Bars (SMPTE / EBU / ARIB Standard) have also been made accessible.
Elevated Depth from Defocus and Contrast AF
Thanks to both of these options the camera is cable of calculating the distance to the subject via assessing two images with varying levels of sharpness. They also facilitate the examination of form, size and motion generated by the subject. Owing to the Venus Engine the speed of these processes is much faster
6K/4K Photo Mode
Capture at 30fps thanks to the 6K PHOTO function that saves an 18-megapixel equivalent high resolution photo out of a 6K burst file in 3:2 or 4:3 aspect ratio. Alternatively, capture 60fps in 4K PHOTO with 8-megapixel equivalent image as a result. Users are able to pick from 6K/4K Burst, 6K/4K Burst (Start/Stop) and 6K/4K Pre-burst modes depending on their need. The Venus Engine that has been a source of many improvements allows for the Post Recording Refinement to be applied over the photos in order to correct distortion and reduce noise, significantly improving the images.
Optimised Operability
For increased operability a large 1.52x/0.76x magnification ratio Live View Finder has been implemented along with a high-precision OLED display that features 3,680K-dot high resolution and 100% field of view. The 3.2 inch free-angle rear screen in 3:2 aspect ratio adopts a static-type touch control system. It also involves 1,620K-dot high resolution that realises approx. 100% field of view.
