You can also let the OM-5 know you want to prioritise focusing on a specific person at the touch of a button - meaning priceless expressions are never missed and are yours to look back on in years to come. Better yet, the OM-5 also takes the guesswork out of manual focusing with a Starry Sky AF feature. By combining this mode with other computational features, users can create some truly stunning starscapes.

Expand The Realms of Expression

Thanks to advances in computational photography, the OM SYSTEM OM-5 follows in the footsteps of the OM-1 by incorporating shooting modes for photographic expressions that have traditionally required specialist equipment. These shooting modes include, but are not limited to, High-Res Shot, Live ND, Live Composite, Focus Stacking, Pro Capture, Keystone Compensation and more.

With High-Res shot, users can shoot handheld from nearly any angle and create 50 Megapixel high-resolution images with minimal noise. Focus Stacking works in a similar way, taking 8 shots at different focal positions and automatically generating a single image with a stunning background defocusing effect.

Both Live ND and Pro Capture modes replicate the effects of shutter speed control. Whilst Live ND achieves results similar to those using ND filter up to ND16 (4 shutter speed steps), Pro Capture records previous frames beginning with the moment the shutter button is pressed fully to ensure users never miss a moment.

Whilst the powerful in-body 5-axis image stabilisation and On-chip Phase Detection AF sensor is perfect for shooting stills, combining them with the dedicated video electronic stabilisation works a treat for hybrid shooters, too.
