Super-Telephoto & Super-Detail
The M.Zuiko Digital ED 100-400mm F5.0-6.3 IS is able to provide stunning detail and performance across the focal range, enabling you to zoom in on your subjects capture the action. Its minimum focusing distance across the entire focal range is 1.3m and a max magnification of 0.57x which allow for some excellent tele-macro performance. Its focal range is equivalent to 200-800mm when compared to 35mm format. This extendable to 1120mm using the Olympus MC-14 1.4x M.Zuiko Digital Teleconverter and a further 1600mm when used with the Olympus MC-20 2x M.Zuiko Digital Teleconverter.
Professional Lens Construction
The lens is constructed from a combination of 4 Extra-low Dispersion (ED) for suppressing colour bleeding, 2 Super High Refractive Index (Super HR), and 2 HR (High Refractive Index) glass elements. These elements together reduce colour bleeding and help produce bright, clear images with edge-to-edge sharpness across the entire focal range. To accompany thing, Olympus has added their ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) Coating which reduces ghosting and flare that's seen in poor lighting conditions, including backlit scenes. Finally, the lens also sees extensive hermetic sealing which makes it dustproof, splashproof and freezeproof!
Tele-Focal Stability
There's an in-lens image stabiliser that offers up to 3 shutter speed steps of compensation which ultimately allows for handheld super-telephoto shooting. It also features a rear focusing system that drives the lens and provides fast and precise autofocus performance. It's equipped with a focus clutch and a focus limiter which allows you to restrict the range of distances that the camera will focus at (three different levels) and in turn, helps you to improve the speed of and accuracy of your focusing.
