Exceptional Image Quality

The Nikon Z 24-120mm f4 S Lens features an advanced optical construction that is optimised to offer exceptional image quality through the entire zoom range. The barrel of the lens is equipped with 16 elements arranged into 13 groups. This includes 3 ED elements, 1 aspherical ED element, 3 aspherical elements, elements with Nano Crystal and ARNEO coats, and a fluorine-coated front lens element. Combining these specialised elements and coatings, the lens is able to significantly reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations as well as incidental light from diagonal and vertical directions. Furthermore, these optics offer an incredible level of detail and colour depth, capturing edge-to-edge sharpness from its wide 24mm to tele 120mm.

AF Performance

The lens is equipped with Nikon’s multi-focusing system that uses two AF drive units that are precisely synchronised in order to deliver fast, accurate autofocusing. To drive this system is powerful stepping motors that provide autofocusing that is super-smooth, virtually silent and has next to zero focus breathing - it’s perfect for both stills and video. Furthermore, with a full-time manual focus override too and an internal focusing design, the overall length of the lens will stay the same resulting in easier handling and faster-focusing speeds. Finally, the lens has a minimum focusing distance of 33cm and a maximum magnification of 0.39x which together, enable the efficient capture of close-up subjects.

Nikon Construction

This lens is designed to offer enhanced handling and useability. Of course, as you’d expect from a Nikon Z lens, it features an impressive overall build that exudes quality. As well as this, it’s dust- and moisture-resistant and as mentioned the front element features a fluorine coating, both allowing use in inclement conditions. Aside from this, it’s the programmable Control Ring and Assignable L.Fn button that allows this lens to excel. By default, the ring is set to adjust manual focus but can be used to control aperture or exposure compensation. The Assignable L.Fn button works in conjunction with camera-based Fn buttons to provide seamless points for quickly changing exposure settings and other functions.
