Huge 153-point autofocus

The D500 has a Multi-CAM 20K autofocus sensor module which offers 153 focus points (99 cross sensors) that covers a huge area of the frame. This means that even fast-moving subjects can be tracked accurately near to the end of the frame. The autofocus system can even be used in low light conditions thanks to autofocus engine and 180K-pixel RGB sensor that helps achieve exceptional autofocus performance in all manner of different settings.

High-speed continuous shooting

The D500 is fast. It can achieve high-speed continuous shooting up to 10 fps for about 200 shots in JPEG and in 14-bit compressed RAW, without a drop in speed. What makes this even more impressive is that moving subjects can be continuously and accurately across this high-speed shooting.

4K UHD video

This camera is not only for stills, it will record stunning video footage too! It can record 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) at 30, 25 and 24fps as well as 1080p at 60fps. You can also capture 4K UHD time-lapse movies in camera. In addition, having the ability to save video footage to the in-camera memory cards or uncompressed files to an optional external recorder via HDMI out, you'll be spoilt for choice.

The EXPEED 5-image processor

Used in the FX-format Nikon D5, the EXPEED 5-image processor has been included in the D500. Using this processor, ISO levels can see a large 100 to 51200 range which can be expanded from Lo 1 to Hi 5 (this is the equivalent of ISO 50 to 164000). Equally, because of the power of the processor, the camera can take high-resolution images whilst significantly reducing noise at high ISO levels.

Quick and easy image transfer

In this modern world, transferring and sharing images has never been more important. With the D500, you can download the Nikon SnapBridge app to connect to a large number of devices using the built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for quick transfer. Using the app, you can also view images stored in the camera and embed images with date/time of capture. This app is incredibly useful and adds a whole new level of convenience to your image taking.
