Improvements

The Lensbaby Soft Focus II 50 Optic improves on what was one of Lensbaby’s first and most sought-after lenses. The optic offers that versatile 50mm focal length with a multi-coated optical glass doublet. It includes 3 special multi-hole soft-focus aperture disks and the degree of softness is controlled by switching out the aperture disks. Furthermore, this iteration adds a 12-blade manually adjustable internal aperture to its unique and versatile drop-in magnetic aperture system which in turn, results in more comprehensive aperture control.

Aperture Control

As mentioned, a huge improvement from the first iteration is the addition of its unique and versatile drop-in magnetic aperture system. This 12-blade aperture system offers a versatile aperture range from its maximum f2.5 to its minimum f22. Using a wide and bright aperture demonstrates the true creative intention of this lens. It produces an impressionistic image with subtle sharp detail beneath. The colours captured are soft and pastel, something that is impossible with standard lenses.

Equally, you can step the lens down to its darker aperture stages and the lens is able to capture impressively detailed and traditionally sharp images with a large central area of focus and out of focus edges. And, it's that aperture control that allows for quick variability of the optical effect - Simply turn the front of the optic and you can switch from the impressionistic glow to sharp and contrasted.

Macro Adapter

The Holiday Kit includes a macro converter and lens cloth alongside the aperture kit usually supplied with the lens. The macro converter expands your creative possibilities further, allowing you to capture a world of detail through macro photography.
