Composer Pro II

The Composer Pro II is the base part of the Lensbaby Optic Swap System. This section is the mount for Lensbaby lenses such as the Soft Focus II. This is the section that articulates and moves around offering that creative visual manipulation and shifting focus on your shot. This version of the Composer Pro features an upgraded metal body with charcoal grey accents as well as an improved tilt control from 0-15° in any direction.

Lens Improvements

The Soft Focus II Optic improves on what was one of Lensbaby’s first and most sought-after lenses. This optic offers a versatile 50mm focal length with a multi-coated optical glass doublet. It includes 3 special multi-hole soft-focus aperture disks and the degree of softness is controlled by switching out the aperture disks. This iteration also adds a 12-blade manually adjustable internal aperture to its unique and versatile drop-in magnetic aperture system, which in turn results in more comprehensive aperture control.

Aperture Control

A huge improvement on Lensbaby’s previous Soft Focus lens is the addition of the unique and versatile drop-in magnetic aperture system. This 12-blade aperture system offers a versatile aperture range from its maximum f2.5 to its minimum f22. Using a wide and bright aperture demonstrates the true creative intention of this lens. It produces an impressionistic image with subtle sharp detail beneath. The colours captured are soft and pastel, something that is impossible with standard lenses.

You can step the lens down to its darker aperture stages and capture impressively detailed and traditionally sharp images with a large central area of focus and out-of-focus edges. It's that aperture control that allows for quick variability of the optical effect - simply turn the front of the optic and you can switch from the impressionistic glow to sharp and contrasted.
