As the key successors to the well-renowned original Ultravid HD, Leica's Ultravid HD-Plus Binoculars are here to make a serious statement. They deliver improved colour fidelity, wider contrast, and a consistently bright image. These HD-Plus binoculars thrive in low-light, making them ideal for observing nature that is most active during dawn and dusk. A wide apparent viewing angle reliably compensates against hand-shake, whilst the upgraded SCHOTT HT glass increases light transmission (especially within the blue-violet band). In addition to this, you are supplied with Leica's P40 phase correction and High Lux System (HLS) coatings. Planning for your next big adventure? Expanded Leica Ultravid HD-Plus Binoculars Key Features:
Optical Performance
The Leica brand are best-known for their high-end optics in both their camera systems and binoculars. The Ultravid HD-PLus series have a well-rounded high magnification, a range of different objective lens diameters, and sophisticated roof prism optical paths. The high-quality SCHOTT HT glass improves light transmission for a brighter viewing image, particularly within the blue-violet band. Reliable performance in all viewing conditions is guaranteed with clear colour fidelity and enhanced low-light performance - considerably improved twilight vision. Further to this, the P40 phase-correction prism coating and integrated HDC fully multi-coated system consist of key anti-reflection and abrasion-resistant properties. This allows for reinforced colour rendition, whilst the high-temperature plasma lens coating depositing system, establishes the optimal placement of the aforementioned lens coatings.
Made To Roam
For the more adventurous among us, these Leica Ultravid HD-Plus binoculars can stand up to the most extreme spotting environments. Efficient hydrophobic AquaDura coating on both outer lenses protects against water and oil damage for easy-cleaning and a clearer view in all weathers. The lubricant-free central focusing system with PETP-Discs ensures smooth movements throughout the operating temperature, whilst the central diopter adjustment wheel can be locked in place for consistency in all viewing situations. You also have the luxury of ergonomic thumb rests, a durable and lightweight magnesium chassis and titanium centre hinge axel. One of the most impressive features of the Ultravid series is the fact that they are nitrogen filled, fogproof and watertight to 5m/0.5 bar pressure.
They also cater well to both those with or without eyewear, with twist-up four-position click-stop rubber eyecups and ±4 right-eye dioptric correction. This makes them extremely comfortable when positioned upon your face, backed-up by durable twist-out two-stage click-stop eyecups. With an optional adapter (not included), you can mount your Ultravid binoculars to a tripod system - ideal for hiking, travelling, and for use in a bird hide. To protect your Leica binoculars when on the move, be sure to utilise the flip-down tethered objective lens caps.
The Ultra HD-Plus Series:
The Ultravid HD-Plus series expands on the ever-popular standard Ultravid series. This series has been developed with the addition of HD glass in the objectives, AquaDura external lens coatings, and an improved focusing mechanism. They also see the addition of Schott HT glass prisms which further increase image quality. There are different options to choose from and these include:
