The Leica Noctivid Binoculars series confidently stands up to the Leica name, perfectly balanced providing unbelievably clear and high-quality images, combined with the usability to match. The binos have a wide viewing angle and high magnification that will allow you to make smooth pans across your scene whilst still allowing you to make detailed observations of distant subjects. To do this, there is an advanced and complex set of 12 SCHOTT High Transmission glass elements, all exhibiting various coatings that dramatically increase image quality. This pair of binoculars is also designed to stand the rigours of extensive outdoor use. The magnesium-alloy chassis is lightweight and durable, and its exterior is coated in a rubber armour that further adds to durability as well as providing more grip. In addition, each optical tube is filled with nitrogen and O-ring sealed to be fog-proof, waterproof and submersible.

Leica Optics

To achieve such a high level of image quality, Leica has used a range of extremely high-quality materials and lens coatings. To begin with - The glass. Leica has used twelve SCHOTT High Transmission glass elements, meticulously arranged and all treated with HighLux-System, multi-layer high-temperature plasma anti-reflection coatings. Light continues through and hits a P40 phase-corrected compact roof prism. This combination of glass, coatings and prism produces bright, clear and high contrast images that exhibit accurate, true-to-life colours.

The lens structure is complemented by internal baffles that limit light straying in and around the optical tubes, which would otherwise negatively affect the contrast and clarity of the image. The wide-angle view and high magnification allows you to accurate pan landscapes as well as make more detailed observations. And, the wider angle of view actually helps to reduce the appearance of distracting hand-shakes, improving your overall viewing experience!

The Leica Feel

Leica optics provide unparalleled image quality, but Leica also knows how to make a tactile pair of binos. These binoculars are constructed from a lightweight and durable magnesium alloy and feature a protective black rubberised armour that provides a slip-resistant grip in any weather condition. Each tube is filled with nitrogen which ensures a fog-proof experience, even when moving between extreme temperatures. Externally, these binoculars have a proprietary varnish coating that protects any metal surfaces from corrosion and wear.

What are they like to use? Well, they have a dual-hinge configuration that adds more grip for better handling, and the centre focusing wheel is large and slip-resistant which is easy to operate in cold and/or wet weather. Visually, there is a range of adjustments that you can make to best suit your eyes, whether you wear eyeglasses or not. There's an adjustable 56-74mm adjustable interpupillary distance and a ±4 right-eye dioptric correction range that allows you to make changes so you still see tack-sharp images. Finally, they have a long 19mm eye relief that reduces eye strain, especially if you're using them all day.
