Nine of the specialist-glass elements feature Leica's anomalous partial dispersion technology provide effective chromatic correction through the 24-70mm focal range, and as a result even highlights are free of colour fringing.

The optical design is complimented by an 11-bladed diaphragm and a constant maximum of f2.8 that provides impressive low-light performance.
