What’s new?
The GFX100RF is the first fixed-lens camera in the GFX series, offering a lighter (735g) and more compact alternative to the GFX 100 II (1030g) and GFX 100S II (883g). While the GFX 100 II and GFX 100S II support interchangeable GF lenses, the GFX100RF features a built-in 35mm f4 GF lens (28mm equivalent) with a digital teleconverter for 45mm, 63mm, and 80mm equivalent focal lengths, a feature not found in the other models.
It also introduces a dedicated Aspect Ratio Dial with nine aspect ratios, including new 3:4 and 17:6 formats, while the GFX 100 II and GFX 100S II lack this function. Unlike those models, which feature 5-axis IBIS, the GFX100RF uses Digital Image Stabilisation (DIS) for video only. However, all three cameras share the 102MP GFX CMOS II sensor, X-Processor 5, AI-powered autofocus, and a 5.76-million-dot OLED EVF.
The GFX100RF provides a more accessible and affordable entry point into medium format, offering a long-lasting, all-in-one system with the high-resolution imaging and colour science Fujifilm is known for.
102MP GFX CMOS II sensor and X-Processor 5
The Fujifilm GFX100RF offers a compact alternative to large-format photography by bringing GFX-series image quality to a fixed-lens system. Its 102MP GFX CMOS II sensor and X-Processor 5 deliver high resolution, wide dynamic range, and low noise for detailed images with natural tonality. The enhanced pixel structure enables a standard ISO of 80, improving shadow detail and noise control in varied lighting conditions. This combination makes it well-suited for high-resolution editorial work, fine art photography, and detailed landscape imaging.
Fixed 35mm f4 GF lens
The GFX100RF features a 35mm f4 GF lens (28mm full-frame equivalent), designed with 10 elements in 8 groups, including two aspherical elements to minimise distortion and enhance edge-to-edge sharpness. The 9-blade aperture diaphragm provides smooth transitions from f4 to f22 in 1/3 EV steps, delivering precise exposure control. A built-in 4-stop ND filter allows wider apertures in bright conditions and extended shutter speeds for motion blur effects, making it ideal for stills and video applications.
3-step digital teleconverter (45mm, 63mm, 80mm)
The fixed 35mm f4 GF lens provides a versatile wide-angle perspective, but the built-in digital teleconverter expands framing options. A lever-operated teleconverter allows users to instantly switch between 45mm (36mm equivalent), 63mm (50mm equivalent), and 80mm (63mm equivalent) focal lengths while maintaining exceptional image detail thanks to the camera’s 102MP resolution. This feature enables photographers to adjust framing without cropping in post-production, making the GFX100RF an ideal choice for documentary and street photographers who need adaptability in the field.
Dedicated aspect ratio dial with 9 options
The dedicated Aspect Ratio Dial offers instant access to nine aspect ratios, catering to photographers working across multiple formats. Options include classic 3:2, cinematic 17:9, and square 1:1, allowing seamless composition for print, social media, and video projects. The addition of 3:4 and 17:6 formats expands creative flexibility further. This dial integrates aspect ratio selection into the shooting process, ensuring photographers can intentionally frame their images rather than relying on post-production cropping.
5th generation autofocus algorithm with deep-learning AI
The GFX100RF inherits Fujifilm’s renowned autofocus system in the GFX 100S II and GFX 100 II. This system delivers fast, highly accurate performance with on-sensor phase detection. The 5th-generation AF algorithm enhances predictive tracking, ensuring precise subject detection across various scenarios.
AI-driven subject recognition identifies people, animals, birds, and vehicles, automatically prioritising key focal points. Face and eye detection simplify portrait photography, while touch-to-track AF ensures smooth, reliable subject tracking for both stills and video. With the same advanced AF capabilities as Fujifilm’s latest GFX models, the GFX100RF excels in dynamic street photography, fast-moving wildlife, and cinematic sequences, delivering sharp, well-defined results in every frame.
Record 4K/30P 10-bit Video with Cinematic Depth
The GFX100RF is more than just a stills camera—it offers 4K/30P 10-bit internal recording with 4:2:2 colour sampling, ensuring professional-grade footage. F-Log2 support delivers over 13 stops of dynamic range, preserving detail in high-contrast scenes and allowing for greater flexibility in post-production grading.
For content creators, hybrid shooters, and professional videographers, the large-format sensor enhances footage with a cinematic aesthetic, providing shallow depth of field and superior low-light performance. Combined with advanced AF tracking and intuitive manual controls, the GFX100RF is a versatile tool for controlled and handheld filmmaking.
Ergonomics and handling
The GFX100RF blends classic Fujifilm craftsmanship with modern usability, offering a precision-machined aluminium top plate, tactile dials, and a lightweight yet durable body. The two-axis tilting 3.15-inch LCD enables flexible composition from high and low angles, while the 5.76-million-dot OLED EVF ensures a clear, distortion-free view for accurate framing.
Weighing just 735g, the GFX100RF provides a portable alternative to traditional GFX models, making it an excellent choice for travel, documentary, and location-based photography. By integrating GFX-series image quality into a compact and ergonomic design, the GFX100RF delivers exceptional usability for photographers and filmmakers who require high performance in a small, lightweight package.

FAQs:
Does the GFX100RF have in-built image stabilisation?
The GFX100RF does not feature in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) for still photography. However, it includes Digital Image Stabilisation (DIS) and IS Mode Boost, available in movie mode only. These features help reduce camera shake during video recording, providing smoother handheld footage.
How good is the GFX100RF’s battery life?
The GFX100RF is powered by the high-performance NP-W235 Li-ion battery, providing up to 820 frames per charge with Auto Power Save enabled. This battery ensures reliable performance for casual photography and travel, though we recommend a spare battery for extended shoots or video recording. The camera records up to 100 minutes of 4K (29.97p) or 90 minutes of Full HD (59.94p) on a single charge (face detection off).
Does the GFX100RF have a touch screen?
Yes, the GFX100RF has a touchscreen with various touch functions. In Shooting Mode, users can control AF, Focus Area selection, Double Tap Setting (ON/OFF), Touch Function Setting (ON/OFF), and EVF Touch Screen Area Setting, or turn off touch controls entirely. In Playback Mode, the touchscreen supports swiping, pinch-to-zoom, double-tap, and drag gestures for intuitive image review.
Does the GFX100RF have Fujifilm film simulation modes?
The Fujifilm GFX100RF offers 20 Film Simulation modes, replicating Fujifilm’s iconic film looks. PROVIA, Velvia, and ASTIA provide distinct colour profiles, while Classic Chrome, REALA ACE, and Nostalgic Neg add a stylised touch. ETERNA and ETERNA Bleach Bypass create cinematic tones, while ACROS, Black & White, and Sepia offer monochrome options. These modes deliver a classic film aesthetic in-camera, minimising post-processing.
How compact is the GFX100RF?
As the lightest camera in the GFX series, Fujifilm designed the GFX100RF for maximum portability without compromising image quality. The body measures 133.5mm (W) x 90.4mm (H) x 76.5mm (D), making it exceptionally compact for a medium-format system. It weighs approximately 735g with the battery and memory card and 654g without.
Is the GFX100RF weather-resistant?
Although the Fujifilm GFX100RF is not inherently weather-resistant, combined with the included PRF-49 protective filter and adapter ring, it achieves a sealed structure that protects against dust and moisture. This setup ensures greater durability in light rain or dusty conditions, making it more reliable for outdoor photography.
