Lens Construction
As you'd expect with any Fujifilm GF lens, this GF 80mm F1.7 R WR Lens has complex and advanced lens construction and design that help to produce some truly stunning images. To begin with, it features 9 rounded diaphragm blades which when stopped down offer crisp edge-to-edge sharpness and thanks to the wide maximum F1.7 aperture, you can open it up and capture beautifully smooth bokeh with staggering foreground-background separation.
The lens construction is made up of 12 glass elements in 9 groups, including one aspherical element and two Super ED elements. Fujifilm used ultra-high-precision glass moulding technology resulting in both surfaces of the aspherical lens element have tolerance of 1/100,000th of a millimetre. This precision results in a reduced "onion-ring" effect that often negates bokeh.
Power and Speed
To drive the focus group of six lens elements, including the aspherical element, Fujifilm has used a powerful DC motor. This motor has enough torque to efficiently drive the elements, resulting in accurate and reliable autofocus, even at the max F1.7 aperture. The GF80mm also supports Face/Eye AF functions. This system uses an advanced focusing algorithm which accurately acquires focus on your subject's face or eye, even if they're moving.
We need quality lenses even if the weather turns. This lens has been equipped with weather-resistant seals that are located at 10 points along the lens barrel to protect it from both dust and water. In addition, the lens is also able to function perfectly in temperature as low as -10°C. The front lens element has also been coated with a fluorine solution that helps to repel dirt for an added layer of protection.
