ActiveTrack Pro

With the LiDAR Range Finder, tracking on the R series gimbals has never been more accurate or responsive. The self-developed chip used is identical to the one belonging to the Ronin 4D, boosting the computing power of ActiveTrack Pro by more than 60 times compared to ActiveTrack 3.0 on the Ronin Image Transmitter.

This next-generation ActiveTrack system directly reads images from the built-in camera without the need for the Ronin Image Transmitter. As a result, users can monitor or frame the subject on the RS 3 Pro’s OLED touchscreen, with a live feed latency of just 40 ms, so you don’t miss any fast-moving subjects. And, with a neural network accelerator, the LiDAR Range Finder can identify and track multiple targets, even at a distance.

How do you achieve cinematic autofocus with a manual lens?

Pairing the LiDAR Range Finder with the optional Focus Motor (2022) further expands the capabilities of the RS 3 Pro. When working with manual lenses, this combination makes it possible to use cinematic autofocus. Once calibrated, several lens calibration profiles can be stored in the focus motor, so there is no need to continuously re-calibrate.

How does this Range Finder identify subjects?

The LiDAR Range Finder identifies subjects through machine learning. This device can recognise up to 5 targets at the same time and allows you to choose which to follow. The maximum distance for identifying subjects with this device is 9m.

What size is this Range Finder?

The LiDAR Range Finder benefits from a compact design, measuring only 66mm in length and 57mm in width. It is also a lightweight device, weighing only 130g. This is an incredibly easy accessory to store and transport from shoot to shoot.
