The MacroTwin Lite MT-24EX Canon flash incorporates E-TTL flash technology to give properly balanced exposure, even under difficult lighting situations. When used in conjunction with Speedlite 580EX and EXII units, wireless control of up to three slave groups can be achieved. The control unit has a large easy to read LCD panel adopting the familiar layout of other Speedlite models. The EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM lens requires Macro Lite Adaptor 72C and the EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens requires the Macro Lite Adaptor 67C.

Compatible lenses
The flash mount ring attaches directly to the objective end of the Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Macro Lens, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens or Canon MP-E 65mm 1-5x f/2.8 Macro Lens. Mounting the Canon Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX Flash on the Canon EF 180mm f/3.5 L USM Macro lens requires the optional modestly-priced Canon Macro Lite Adapter 72C. The Canon 100mm F2.8L Macro IS USM lens requires the Macro Lite Adapter 67C adapter ring
Automatic flash metering
Compatible with all EOS digital SLR cameras, the Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX offers fully automatic E-TTL II flash metering for accurate flash exposures in all situations. Each flash head has a Guide Number of 12 giving a combined power of Guide Number 24. This provides enough flash power even when working at high magnifications.
Ratio control
Control the two flash heads together or independently for creative results. Adjust the ratio control between the flash heads within a six-stop range to create complex lighting effects.
A circular lens mount* allows the twin lites to be rotated around the lens for lighting either from the sides or above and below. Remove the two flash heads from the mounting ring and place them separately for greater control over light direction or more complex lighting.
* The EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM lens requires Macro Lite Adaptor 72C and the EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens requires Macro Lite Adaptor 67C.
Wireless Master flash
Use the wireless master function to trigger remote EX-Series Speedlites. Controlling a third lighting group of one or more slave Speedlites enables you to light other areas of the scene, like the background, more effectively.
Focusing lights
Working at high magnifications can make focusing difficult. A focusing light on each flash head provides subject illumination to aid manual focusing.
Two different modelling flash settings enable you to fire a strobe pre-flash with the depth-of-field preview button. The default setting fires the two tubes at the appropriate power setting to allow accurate judgment of where shadows will fall.
Power Source
Powered by 4xAA batteries or external power packs like the CP-E4, the MT-24EX is lightweight and portable. AA batteries provide fast recycling so you can continue to shoot without having to wait between shots.
Custom Functions
With nine Custom Functions, the MT-24EX can be tailored to suit your personal requirements.
Further information
A button on the flash mount ring releases four catches and allows it to slide over the end of the lens (after the lens cap and hood are removed). The lens cap and hood can be reattached to the flash mount ring. The flash mount ring can rotate to and lock in the position you wish by pressing/releasing the button.
Two small flash heads (marked A and B for their respective IDs) mount to the flash mount ring (thus its name). They slide and snap into mini flash shoes. A button press on each individual flash head mount is required to release the heads.
Each flash head can be individually tilted in and out (friction-held with click stops). As well, each head can be individually rotated around the ring (requires a release button to be held in). And again, the flash mount ring itself can be rotated - rotating both flash heads simultaneously.
The flash heads do not even need to remain in their mounts. Remove one or both and position them exactly where you want them.
