The Canon EF 50mm f1.8 is one of the lightest EF lenses of all, weighing in at a mere 130g. It is very compact and provides high-performance for a standard lens. Colour balance is excellent and Gaussian optics provide sharp delineation from near to far focusing distances. This lens is compatible with full-frame DSLRS (EG. 1D X, 5D Mk III, 6D etc.) and cropped (APS-C) sensor DSLRs.
The 50mm f1.8 II is no longer available, and has been replaced by the Canon EF 50mm f1.8 STM lens.Key Features:
- Standard 46° angle of view
- Fast f/1.8 aperture
- 45cm closest focusing distance
- 52mm filter size
- Super Spectra coatings reduce ghosting and flare
Compact and high-performance, standard lens
This is the lightest EF lens in the range, weighing a mere 130g. Its Gaussian optics provide sharp images at all focusing distances as well as excellent colour balance and contrast.
Fully Electronic Lens Mount
As part of the acclaimed EF lens family, the EF 50mm f/1.8 II features a built in AF motor to provide fast, direct AF performance. The lens also includes an electromagnetic diaphragm, which ensures the right mechanical aperture position is achieved every time.
Smooth background blur
A virtually circular aperture diaphragm gives out of focus regions a softer, more uniform feel. Sharp foreground objects stand out against a smooth blurred background.
Super Spectra coating
Super Spectra coatings ensure accurate colour balance and enhance contrast. They also reduce flare and ghosting - a common problem caused by light bouncing off a camera's sensor
