Sony FS5 RAW Firmware Upgrade with the Atomos Inferno

Go from recording 8-bit XAVC to 12-bit CinemaDNG with one powerhouse trio: the Sony FS5, the RAW firmware update, and the Atomos Inferno

The Sony RAW firmware Upgrade License allows the FS5 to output 4K RAW at up to 120fps, and 2K RAW at up to 240fps (when editing in a 24p timeline). Pair this with an external recorder like the Atomos Shogun Inferno and you can record in the various 10-bit flavours of ProRes, or even 4K DCI in 12-bit CinemaDNG at up to 30fps. In this video we run through how to set it up, shoot with it, and a look at the footage.

Key Features:

  • 4K (4096x2160) RAW output at 23.98p, 25p, 29.97p, 50p and 59.94p
  • 2K (2048x2160) RAW output at 100, 120, 200 or 240 fps as 23.98p, 25p, 29.97p, 50p, and 59.94p
  • Simultaneously XAVC HD recording on SD memory cards in the camcorder’s internal dual media slots while outputting 4K/2K RAW
