The new telephoto zoom, the Sony FE 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 G OSS, is notable as the first E-mount zoom to reach a focal length of 300mm.

This long reach combined with a close focusing distance of 0.9mm makes it an ideal choice for tele-macro photography. It boasts a maximum magnification of 0.31x.

With on-board Optical SteadyShot for clear images and a Linear Actuator for fast, quiet autofocus, the FE 70-300mm should also be popular with action shooters who may have picked up the impressive a6000 or a6300.

The nine-blade circular aperture makes for smooth bokeh, while Nano AR Coating reduces flare and ghosting. Its optical construction includes four aspherical elements and two ED glass elements work to minimise aberration and distortion.

Also announced is the Sony FE 50mm f1.8 lens, which is a fast, full-frame prime that offers high performance and a lightweight build.

Its bright f/1.8 maximum aperture makes it an excellent performer in low light, while the circular aperture mechanism means it creates beautiful, smooth bokeh to make a subject pop out of the frame.

The internal design includes a precision aspherical element that reduces chromatic aberrations, resulting in smooth, pin-sharp images.

Both lenses are compatible with E-mount full-frame and APS-C cameras. When used with crop sensors, the 50mm and 70-300mm will offer equivalent focal lengths of 75mm and 105-450mm respectively.
