The Panasonic stage at Photokina 2016

Promising exceptional performance for professional photographers and videographers alike, the new Panasonic Lumix GH5 follows on from 2014’s GH4.

It is capable of recording high-precision 4K 60p/50p footage and 4:2:2 10-bit 4K video, and packs its extensive video functionality into a lightweight frame for take-anywhere convenience. Panasonic is aiming for a bigger chunk of the pro video market.

Another major upgrade comes to the 4K Photo Mode that has by now become standard on Panasonic Cameras. Say hello to 6K Photo, which cuts a still-image out of ultra-high definition footage, meaning unmissable moments are easier than ever to capture in glorious high resolution. A 6K Photo image will carry a resolution of approximately 18MP, a pretty big jump from the 8MP of 4K photo images.

4K Photo is still present on the camera, allowing for a 6MP image to be whipped out of a video shot at 60fps.
