Nikon Release 10 NEW Coolpix Cameras!

On Wednesday 1st February Nikon announced not one, not two, but ten new digital compact cameras to join the well established Coolpix clan!

The Nikon P series

Joining Nikon’s advanced P series are two new compacts that are guaranteed to deliver exceptional performance – the Nikon Coolpix P310 and Coolpix P510.

1. The Nikon Coolpix P510 Super-zoom

The Nikon Coolpix P510 super-zoom camera is the successor to the popular Nikon Coolpix P500.  While the P510 doesn't offer any massive physical changes to its design, it does present a few new technological features.  The first being GPS (Global Positioning System), this enables you to record the exact location and route of where a picture was taken. Another feature is Auto HDR mode, which combines two shots taken at different exposures during a single shutter release. The effect of this mode is an image with wide dynamic range and richer colour graduation. But that's not all,  using the Eye-Fi X2 (or later) memory card, the P510 can also wirelessly transfer your images (in JPEG format) directly to your phone or computer. You are also able to shoot 3D images all with a turn of the mode dial. If that wasn't enough Nikon have also upped the optical zoom from 36x to 42x,  increased the megapixels from 12.2 to a whopping 16 and still ensured the camera is of a manageable size.

2. The Nikon Coolpix P310

The P310 picks up where the P300 left off in terms of a standard spec (see chart below), however, there are a few brilliant additions that make this model superior to its older brother.  The updated features include: Nikon's second generation advanced lens-shift vibration reduction system that counters the effect of camera shake and enables the use of shutter speeds that are up to four stops slower. A new smart auto-focus system, which means you can shoot in manual focus with a 99-point AF  for super-sharp results. What's more, the Nikon P310 includes a customisable function (Fn) button that allows you to set a shortcut to your favourite settings, skipping the menu to return to the same setup for quick on-the-go shooting. Other new additions include Auto HDR mode, 3D shooting mode and Eye-Fi X2 card compatibility.
