A team of Wex staff members cycled 100 miles to raise thousands for charity. We report from the day
All of the images and video featured in this blog were captured using a Fujifilm X-T2.
We’re not only passionate about photography here at Wex, we’re passionate about good causes too.
That's why 11 of our staff lycra’d up and took to their bikes for the Norwich 100 cycle ride in order to raise funds for Norwich and Central Norfolk Mind, a charity working hard to greatly improve mental health care in the region.
With the generous sponsorship of some of the brilliant brands that we work with – Fujifilm, Gitzo and Hoya – all of our team completed the 100-mile route in just over 6 hours, despite some strong sun doing its best to tire them out.
The Wex cycle team was made up of David Garratt, Josh Brown, Alex Bennett, Annalise Taylor, Edward Turner, Nathan Lee, Matt Parker, Simon Partridge, John Pinnington, Jonathan Bailey, Jon Warner.
Josh Brown from Wex’s customer service team explained why he got involved with this particular campaign.
“At Wex we all want to give a little bit back to local charities. As cycling is a keen interest of mine it makes sense to use the sport as a platform to raise money!”
“Also, there’s not enough awareness of mental health issues, so it's great that we are working closely with Mind Norwich this year. Anyway, why not cycle 100 miles in a day? It’s fun!”
“The hardest part of the race was along the coast in between Sheringham and Holkam Hall. The headwinds were awful! I think I was averaging 14 or 15mph, and I’m a pretty light guy too!”
“I’d say the best part of the ride was coming into Spixworth on the very edge of Norwich. You know there’s only around 3 miles left which is a truly great feeling, plus it’s mostly downhill or flat!”
Currently, over £2,500 has been raised by the team, but you can still play your part too and donate at https://goo.gl/iMl3gL.

Our thanks once again to Fujifilm, Gitzo and Hoya for sponsoring our team for such a great cause!
