Given that the new Canon EOS 1D X Mark II arrives more than four years after its predecessor was first announced, you’d expect there to be a fair few changes and new features to be getting on with.

Accordingly, Canon has conducted a major overhaul on the original camera, resulting in a seriously improved specification. As well as a new sensor that bumps the megapixel count up to 20.2, the Canon EOS 1D X Mark II houses two Dual DIGIC 6+ processors.

This means it shoots faster and for longer – its maximum burst rate of 16fps can be sustained indefinitely when shooting JPEGS, or at least as long as card capacity and battery life last.

Elsewhere you’ve got increased extendable ISO sensitivity to a maximum of 409,600, 4K video with 8.8MP stills extraction and a brand new LCD touchscreen. This is a serious new flagship DSLR, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Take a look below for a more detailed spec comparison between the Canon EOS 1D X Mark II and the Canon EOS 1D X.
