Expanded Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus Key Features:
Exceptional Image Quality & Performance
Equipped with an incredible 4K sensor and Blackmagic’s Generation 5 Colour Science results in outstanding image quality and cinematic images for your live productions. The sensor has a 4096 x 2160 resolution that can also cater to HD and UHS production, too, as well as supporting 23.98 up to 60 fps. 13 stops of dynamic range mean that the camera can offer darker blacks and brighter whites, and when used in conjunction with the built-in DaVinci Resolve Primary Colour Checker technology, you’ll capture images that’ll set your broadcast aside from the rest.
Additionally, both the Pro and Plus versions of the camera excel in low-light conditions. Both cameras offer a gain level from -12 dB (100 ISO) up to +36 dB (25,600 ISO) and are optimised to reduce grain and noise in images while maintaining full dynamic range. This camera can be used in almost all conditions e.g. using the primary native ISO 400 for studio lighting and the second high-base ISO 3200 for poorer lighting conditions.
Blackmagic RAW Quality & 3D LUTs Support
The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro and Plus are able to utilise Blackmagic RAW. While many file formats such as H.264 are surprisingly compressed and show noise and artefacts that result in lost detail, Blackmagic RAW eliminates this issue. Blackmagic RAW retains incredible detail and rich colour throughout the footage, as well as saving cameras settings like metadata meaning you can alter ISO, white balance, and exposure later in DaVinci Resolve. The cameras also support 3D LUTs, allowing film gamma images that are recorded to be converted to more pleasing images on the LCD screen. 3D LUTs are also saved into the Blackmagic RAW files meaning you can use them post-production - These are never burned into the image data so you can easily disable them should you want to.
A Design Made For Professionals
Generally speaking, broadcast studio cameras are large, heavy and are not in any way portable. Enter the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro and Plus cameras. Both cameras have been thoughtfully designed with professional users in mind. Both feature all the benefits and large studio cameras but in a much smaller, more compact and entirely portable body. To achieve this, Blackmagic has constructed a lightweight carbon fibre reinforced polycarbonate body that houses all of the pro-grade live-production technology.
A unique feature of this camera is its large 7” high-resolution viewfinder that is designed to transform the way you work by allowing you to easily frame your shots and utilise the intuitive touch screen controls to navigate menus and make adjustments. The unit comes with a sunshade that can be used to make sure you can see the screen as well as protect the screen during transport. The touchscreen controls are invaluable for live adjustments, but there are physical buttons and knobs, too. These include brightness/contrast/focus peaking fine-tuning knobs and three customisable function buttons.
USB Expansion Port for Accessories
The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro and Plys feature a high-speed USB Type-C expansion port that has been included so you to record to external disks or connect to a wide range of accessories. This connection means that you can plug in an external USB disk and record and then later edit 12-bit Blackmagic RAW files from your main computer. Equally, this port can cater to optional focus and zoom accessories, making filming even easier. If that wasn’t enough, the port can also charge your phone whilst you film.

FAQs:
Are the built-in mics any good?
The microphones in the Pro and Plus cameras are designed to make setup much faster. They’re high-quality microphones that are placed at the edges of the screen which results in better stereo separation than what’s possible with standard built-in video camera microphones. Additionally, they’re also shock and wind resistant which means you’ll capture great audio even in adverse conditions. Of course, should you want to use your own microphone, there’s a 3.5mm audio input for connecting video camera microphones, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.
How can I monitor video footage?
This camera allows you to simply press the camera's PGM button, and the viewfinder will switch from the camera display to the program return feed from the switcher. The result of this is that even if the camera operator is far away from the switcher, they can still keep up with what's happening and remain alert.
