Bigger and brighter than the Shinobi 5, the Shinobi 7 stands as the ultimate in 7” HDR real-time camera monitoring. Promising levelled-up display quality and tactile controls, the Shinobi 7 provides the whole package for pro-level videographers and content creators. It is capable of 2200 Nits brightness, full cross-conversion functionality, and features intuitive in-built camera controls. The colour-accurate 1920 x 1200 16:10 display supports HDMI 2.0 4K DCI 60p visuals, as well as incorporating a 3G SDI IN/OUT to support up to 2Kp60. You can also utilise the Atomos Analysis feature to allow for key multi-scope viewing, apply and manage multiple 3D LUTs, as well as exploring AtomOS and Atom HDR platform-compatibility. The Shinobi 7 is tailored to pro-level production workflows as a director’s monitor for remote viewing, to provide visuals for focus pullers, and for ‘box cameras’ that do not have an integrated monitor.

  • Expanded Atomos Shinobi 7 Key Features:

    It’s Bigger, It’s Better

With an enlarged 7” HDR screen, the Shinobi 7 has a calibrated peak brightness of 2200 Nits, as well as the intuitive monitor-only functions of the original Shinobi system. This means that you can utilise this monitor on set, out on location, and in really bright environments with signals up to 4Kp60 via HDMI. As a multi-functional monitoring system, the Shinobi 7 can be used as a director’s monitor, focus pullers’ monitor, preview display for video switchers, and for vloggers presenting to the camera.

The physical screen displays a detailed and colour-accurate 10+ stops of dynamic range in real time, with the capacity to support Log/PQ/HLG signals. In short, this massively simplifies the complexities of shooting Log on HDR, which is ideal for a wide variety of digital creatives. Further to this, you can designate your own custom LUTs to feed downstream or via a live feed. This enables up to eight custom LUTs via the SD Card Slot that can be manually selected to suit your creative vision.

    Convenient Camera Controls

The Shinobi 7 is built around an intuitive and tactile touchscreen, which allows for fast-action access to crucial camera functions and settings. For full control over menu configurations on Z Cam E2 series cameras, you can utilise an optional Atomos USB-C to serial cable (sold separately). In short, this lets you focus on the aesthetics of your image, whilst making small corrections to the iris, white balance, shutter angle, and ND.

    Multi-Functional Monitor Screen

As this upgraded monitoring system utilises the AtomOS 10 platform, you are granted access to numerous scopes and simple one-touch operations. This includes tools for focus, framing and exposure, Focus Peaking, 4:1 / 2:1 / 1:1 Zoom in, Zebra, False Colour, Cine and social frame guides, SMPTE Safe Area, Waveform, RGB parade, vector scope, and anamorphic de-squeeze.

To further ensure an effective and efficient workflow, the Shinobi 7 utilises Atomos ‘Analysis’ mode. This is essentially a multi-screen format that lets you view a waveform, histogram, and vector scope simultaneously whilst monitoring the image. This affords full control over the frame, with multiple waveform, histogram, and vector scope options available with a single one-touch function.

      FAQs:

How does the Shinobi 7 compare to the Shinobi?

First and foremost, the Shinobi 7 incorporates a larger 7” screen over the Shinobi’s 5” display. As well as this, the Shinobi 7 has a 2200 Nit HDR brightness rating, HDMI to SDI and SDI to HDMI cross conversion capabilities, dual battery slots, and multiple in-built ports.

How is the Shinobi 7 designed to optimise battery usage?

The Shinobi 7 consists of a dual battery slot to enable the easy and efficient hot-swapping of batteries over the duration of your shoot. This means that you can charge one battery, whilst powering the Shinobi 7 with the other. As well as this, there is a dedicated locking DC jack input to afford a mains power connection, or for use with a DC to D-Tap cable (sold separately) for on-set power from block batteries.

Does the Shinobi 7 consist of built-in cross conversion?

The Shinobi 7 has both HDMI and SDI input/output ports to allow it to seamlessly fit within any and all production workflows. It is even capable of 4K to HD down conversion, which means that you can bring HDMI cameras into SDI workflows without requiring additional converters.

Is the Shinobi 7 factory calibrated for Rec.709?

The Shinobi 7 has been factory calibrated for Rec.709. However, it also supports user calibration with X-Rite’s i1DisplayPro/Plus and free Atomos Calibration software. This automates the calibration of the screen to guarantee accurate and efficient HDR and Rec.709 monitoring.
