As one of the most sought after 5-inch monitor-recorders on the market, the Ninja V has just had a serious upgrade. Introducing the Ninja V+, which is capable of stunning 4Kp120 ProRes RAW recording and further supports the updated firmware on the Sony FX6 and FX9. In regard to overall design, the Ninja V+ looks very similar to its predecessor. However, its next-gen chip technology allows for higher frame rates and higher resolutions for ProRes RAW over HDMI. Further to this, you are granted future-proof 8Kp30 recording capabilities, pre-activated H.265, and access to ‘PLUS' features via Atomos firmware updates. The tactile display incorporates a 10-bit screen with brightness 1000 cd/m² AtomHDR technology to ensure accurate picture-perfect monitoring of log gamma footage. The Ninja V+ also comes equipped with a quality neoprene protective sleeve, EVA-style hard case, and is powered by a single L-series battery.

The Next Generation

A defining characteristic of this image-processing heavyweight is the next-generation chip technology. This chip provides all that we have come to know and expect from an Atomos Ninja V but with the added bonus that enables higher rates and higher resolutions for ProRes RAW recording over HDMI. The Ninja V+ offers ProRes RAW recording over HDMI up to 8Kp30, 4Kp120 with Z Cam E2 and E2-M4, is H.265 Pre-Activated, and provides access to Atomos "PLUS" features that are set to be part of future AtomOS firmware updates. The unit also comes H.265 Pre-Activated which results in instant 10-bit recordings in 4:2:2, 8-bit recordings in 4:2:2 and 4:2:0. Additionally, this results in XQ Bit rates up to 350 Mb/s, MQ Bit rates up to 200 Mb/s and LQ Bit rates up to 100 Mb/s.

Physically, the Ninja V+ is very similar to its predecessor but it does include some premium accessories including a high-quality neoprene product sleeve, EVA style hard case, battery eliminator and a Master Caddy II Case.

The Ninja V+ is equipped with a big and beautiful 5" IPS LCD screen that uses a bright 1000 cd/m² LED backlight. This 1920 x 1080 display allows for accurate viewing in daylight without the need of an additional hood. This is complemented by 10+ stops of dynamic range of your camera's log image with AtomHDR, as well as supporting custom LUTs. Finally, this screen comes colour-calibrated straight from the factory, ensuring precise image reproduction. What cameras can I use this with?

The Ninja V+ is compatible with almost any camera with an HDMI source e.g. ARRI, Canon, FUJIFILM, Nikon, Panasonic, RED, Olympus, Sony, and Z-CAM.

Can I use SDI Raw on my FS5?

SDI Raw is not supported on the Sony FS700, F5, and FS5.

What sun hood should I use so I can use this in bright conditions

The Ninja V+ is equipped with a 5" IPS LCD screen that uses a bright 1000 cd/m² LED backlight which means you shouldn't need a hood, even in bright sunny weather.

Does this come with a battery?

The unit does not come with a battery - The Atomos 5200mAh Battery NP-750 NP L Series is sold separately.
